I have recently posted the Russell Crowe interview about his latest Robin Hood film on my blog and wondered if any of the members of this forum have seen it?
Crowe claims to have prepared himself for the role by reading approximately twenty to thirty books on the subject of Robin Hood. From this he explains to the interviewer that some are very historically detailed whilst others are just pure fantasy.
But what interested me was his claim that the legend of Robin Hood started about 860 AD with the Ballad of Robin the Beheader. According to Mr Crowe this Robin lived in the forest, robs people and chops of their heads and sometimes cuts off their hands as well!
Did he get this from a book of pure fantasy or historical fact?
Or is he just having a chuckle?
