I was asked to write an afterword for the book. I don't know yet if it was included. As Robin Hood comics go , it's pretty good.

I also interviewed the artist Sam Hart and just today posted a new interview with the writer of the Muppet Robin Hood comic, Tim Beedle. (I have a follow up question for Tim - so I hope it might be slightly revised soon. Partly because my questions were very similar to those asked on a Muppet website - the coincidence that comes from asking far too obvious questions.)

I enjoyed the graphic novel (the PDF preview I was given ages ago) -- better than most. I'm reading Hodd too, and you can expect an interview about that as soon as I finish the book. (Already spoke to Adam Thorpe's agent.)

I didn't write the bio -- and I know in the draft that was passed to me, it claimed I was working on the Russell Crowe film -- and I quickly responded that it wasn't true. I hope they rewrote the bio to take that out. [I'm not being coy here. While I've certainly written to people involved with that film,responsible has been minimal and I have no involvement. I still hope to offer up interviews when the film's coming out.]

As for the rest, only one big project that I have an active (but very subordinate, consulting) role in, but it's still in the development stage and I can't talk about that yet. Don't worry -- once it officially moves forward, I'll be promoting it as I can truthfully say it's the best thing that's ever been done with the character. People write to me for advice on local stage productions and the like, and very briefly on one possible film that I think died in the planning stages years ago. I've also answered the questions of a few authors.

And then there was that scholarly article published at about the same time I wrote the afterword for the graphic novel. I've a few other plans for Robin Hood related things of my own, but I haven't pushed them forward yet. I would like to do some non-fiction stuff for next year. And it's probably time to actively pursue that.

That said, I sometimes suspect certain people have read my site, but that's not actively consulting.

I get some feelers towards a book offer recently but I haven't heard back from them. (I'm not quite sure what they want. I don't have much interest in the real Robin Hood debates, for example.) A book deal is something I'm considering pursuing, although it would be nice if it just fell into my lap.

I think if I did a book though, it would be a unique entity. Certainly it would cover some of the same ground, but I wouldn't want to repeat myself.

You know, there's a pretty good Rocket Robin Hood fansite out there which has, or had, a slightly zealous (although understandable) disclaimer that all opinions on the site are copyrighted to the webmaster. And I thought - what, even the opinion that the animators had to be on something? Because that means the webmaster holds copyright on a thought shared by almost every Canadian of my generation.

I will give the book idea some thought. I imagine a few books on Robin Hood will get published next year in hopes that the Scott/Crowe film is a success.
