Made a reference to The Adventures, that is! This one's a bit more obvious and obscure at the same time. Per the preview, the plot in Series 2, Episode 9, hinges on something calledwait for it"Lardner's Ring"! Clearly a reference to Ring Lardner, Jr.'s, essential role in writing for the 1950s series, no? "I'd like to be a pessimist, but that is a luxury I cannot afford." It's clearly an hommage. There have been many others in the new series, of course, but this one sits up and makes you take notice. Posts: 93 (12/02/07 15:38:22) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Caught the episode today, and not only does it contain the "Lardner's Ring" reference, but there is one point at which the Sheriff paraphrases the "Are you now, or have you ever been, a member of the Communist Party?" question asked of those who testified before the House Unamerican Activities Committee. There is no question in my mind the references to The Adventures in the current series are deliberate and meant to test the viewers.
