I have been reading Ritson's work on Robin Hood, through the link supplied by Mr Kirkby, and noticed that Ritson refers to a historian named Camden whose
work Ritson claimed had 'weight'. Can anyone enlighten me on this pesron and the history he compiled? Thanks in advance.

william camden, a 17th century westminster school master and historian wrote in his britannia in 1607 about a grave slab being present on the kirklees estate.
most of the books about robin hood only briefly mention him usually concerning the grave slab. thats all i know.

I am familiar with William Camden and the supposed gravestone. I though it referred to another Camden who had 'slipped my net'. Thanks anyway.
