Urgent: Volunteers Needed |
Lead | |
|
I need volunteers willing to travel back in time, using a device I bought on Ebay, to the period of history most relevant to Robin Hood. The problem is I am
undecided as to which medieval decade to return to. Any thoughts on this matter would be much appreciated. It would not be necessary to actually find Robin
Hood in person, but the object of the exercise would be to determine from the society encountered what information they held regarding Robin Hood. Anyone
willing to step forward? (no time-wasters please)

I nominate Graham, as long as you don't bring him back. (Only kidding Graham) Knowing him he's capable of D-Jumping.
Henry 3rd through to Edward 1st, Rebel Barons, Battle of Evesham, distraint of knighthood. Pox, plagues and pestilence. My giddy aunt, they really knew how to enjoy themselves in those days. |

From about 1160 onwards. Richard Lionhearted lived 1157 to 1199 but was only king for the last ten years of his life so that would take us into the reign of
King John as well.
By the way, are you helping with the dig at Bolsterstone?

A Trip To The Ale House! | ||

No. I think the first trip in this time machine would be to a tavern in 1377. Order a tankard of ale and listen to those 'rhymes of Robyn hod' that Bill Langland moaned about. Hopefully the details in those 'early' tales would take us a bit
nearer to finding our 'original' hero! |

I agree with Clement of the Glen's choice as it would definitely throw new light on the subject, particularly the possible connection between Robyn and
Randulph, which I tentatively suggest is linked to the religious punishment of excommunication.
