All shall be revealed in good time. Suffice to say, this 'line of enquiry' is connected to the association between Robyn Hode and Randulf Earl of
Chester, who were both excommunicated for - as the relevant entries in the ecclesiastical records shows - 'abominations before the eyes of God'. There
is only one 'sin' described thus in the Bible, that of homosexuality. The excommunication of one David fitz Canmore - who at the time of this
punishment was about 20 years of age - was passed in lieu of the more physical punishment usually meted out for such 'crimes', due to his prominence at
court.

The "White Ship" springs to mind in this context?
David was brought up in the court of King Henry I. Wasn't David known as the "Saint."

I'd dearly love to know what records these are that everybody's ignored until now. Especially for such an early period - pretty much everything
surviving from back then has been published.

In Richard's case the evidence is pretty tenuous. But good point on Edward II, especially since the Church's strictures on homosexuality were rather
worse by his time than in David's.
(Yes, it was always regarded as a mortal sin, but in the earlier Middle Ages they generally imposed penance and fasts rather than burning you at the stake.) |

The conversation reminds me of a quote out of Robin Hood: Men in Tights:

Thank you, Graham. Do you have any beautiful pictures of Sherwood forest to share? Hahahaha!! How I love Robin Hood: Men in Tights and all its wonderful cheesiness.

Yes, agree with Graham, great photo, great country.
Lady A, do you go hiking up there alone? I imagine not as it must be pretty dangerous with bears, cougers etc about? Have you ever had any sightings of Bigfoot/Sasquatch? Where you live must be prime habitat. I have been fascinated with the missing apemen since 1980 when I watched the series 'Arthur C Clarke's Mysteriouis World' as a kid. Great series, I have just bought it on DVD and it is very nostalgic watching it again. It is very easy now to follow the latest sightings with the internet. We actually have some strange unknown beasts lurking about over here as well, although nothing on the scale of mystery of Bigfoot. The beast of Bodmin, the Surrey Panther etc. There is a beast that has terrified those who have glimpsed it, makes Bigfoot seem like Noddy. Even the mention of it's name is actually making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up now. It frequents the Peak District in Derbyshire and is known as the Abominable Graham. Terrifying beast this. |

Hey, there is the Big Grey Man of Ben Macdhui, Scotland's own bigfoot. Or was your "over here" confined to England?
We seem to have wandered ever so slightly off topic... |

I was ambushed in Sherwood Forest by the abominable Graham. He came rushing through the crowd, beating his chest and letting out his terrifying cry of
Loxloxloxleeeeeeeeeeeee. I found that the only way to appease him was to buy him an hamburger.

For those who don't know Nottingham have a football team called Nottingham Forest, the only trouble is all the fans have to carry lighters around with them
because they keep loosing all their matches.
They can't hold a candle to Sheffield though who have the world's oldest football club. Like everything else Sheffield FC and Sheffield Hallam got there first. .
