I often come across ancient documents (Latin) at the bottom of which are lists of witnesses. Nothing unusual there. Some males are termed
magisto, which I understand simply means master. What I would like to know is, does master mean a young boy, as used
nowadays, or were these witnesses Masters of somewhere/something in particular. One explanation I have heard is that
magistro translates as Canon. It was Nybor Edoh, I believe who seems to think Robin Hood's grievance was against the
church.
