Rob, do you have this information? It looks like Simon de Kyme bought the sheriffdom of Lincolnshire in 1194 after Richard had put it up for sale. Hoveden goes on to say that Gerard de Camvilla was charged with robberies, he was corrupt so Richard stripped him of the sheriffdom in 1194. Geoffrey,Archbishop of York,who was at the great council at Nottingham on March 30 1194 bought the sheriffdom of Yorkshire. I wonder if Simon de Kyme was also at the great council as well as there was an auction of these posts there. To have bought the post I think he may have had to have been. Interesting. Interesting background to events in 1194 if nothing else.
