I've burned a DVD collection of my photos of this year's trip to Sherwood set to music. (from Robin of Sherwood). I particularly liked it at dawn, with shafts of golden light breaking through the trees. I have been planning to add my past trips to that set.

The main trees I remember are the oaks and the Silver Birch trees. I love the stag-headed and blasted oaks, and sometimes I swear I could see faces in the knotted wood.

I also love the bracken -- the ferns that cover the forest's floor. I was told, however, that there wouldn't have been quite so much of it in medieval times. All that tree clearing meant that the plants on the ground are able to get more sunlight.

Make sure that you schedule a lot of time for your forest visit, so that you aren't rushed. The first time I went, I felt very rushed and it wasn't as fun as later visits.
