What year is that? What rhyme is it in? There are several locations for Sir Richards castle.

Having read this I accept that he may have been in Sherwood and left A.S.A.P. to return to Yorkshire.

A manuscript in Lincoln Cathedral said to date circa 1400 is said to be a text of an early 'lytell Geste' and includes the lines "Robin Hood in Sherwood stood, hooded and hatted, hosed and shod, four and thirty arrows he bore in his hands...

Sherwood is not mentioned in any of the early rhymes

"Robin Hood in Sherwood stood,
Hooded and hatted and hosed and shod..."

Incidentally, although the Gest is largely set in Barnsdale and never mentions Sherwood by name, "the wood" which Sir Richard's castle is "a little within" can't very well be anywhere but Sherwood.

You know perfectly well that Sherwood is not mentioned in any of the early rhymes, but you will persist in talking about Robin Hood being in Sherwood. The nearest he ever got was in Nottingham and then he was only there for a very short time. He went there from Yorkshire because he was a YORKSHIRE man. Have you got that! Do you understand, for the umpteenth time of telling?

I just found out that yes, the International Archery Competition is still held every July 19th. (I just wasn't sure as the documents and pictures I was viewing were at least ten years old.) The spirit of Robyn Hode is alive and well in Sherwood, OR!

Hey you Nottinghamshire archers - beware, because I'm going to start practicing with my own bow. I'm definitely going to join in on this tournament. Mwahaha.

I work in a library, and today was a very slow day, so in my free time, I researched some historical documents on Sherwood, OR.

I found some pretty interesting information: It appears that Sherwood, OR. is a sister city of Nottingham, England.
